Shé:kon. My name is Crystal, my Kanien'kéha name is Kaherisákhe, which means, “She is looking for corn stalk.” I am from Akwesásne, St. Regis Mohawk Reservation, that straddles the US and Canadian Border. I am an Interdisciplinary Artist and a dabbler of sorts. I dabble in quilting, photography, traditional arts, such as basketry, traditional clothing, moccasins and so on. My training is as a Graphic Designer, Art Educator and Museum/Gallery Curator. In the past, I’ve instructed children's art classes and beaded jewelry workshops. I’ve also demonstrated at events, Ojibwe dreamcatchers or Iroquois cornhusk dolls. Currently, my passion is the Kanien'kéha language and designing learning resources via print, digital and possibly video, utilizing my skills as an artist, graphic designer and educator.
